POTD Usage
<span style="font-family: helvetica;">The main issue I have with using it is I never seem to see the posts until the next day when its moved on to something else. I understand they are random but I wonder if there is or has been any consideration to setting it up with some kind of history, so we could plug in a date and see what was listed on that date.</span>

Maybe something like click this button to fill in the URL to today's POTD?</span>

10/14/2021 -- Whirlpool, toploader with variable-speed direct-drive motor, dated 10/18/1966. Apparently the first time I've seen this patent as I didn't have the file saved.
Very interesting. I wonder if a prototype was built or if this ever happened. I wonder if it was based on the belt drive design/cabinet.
10/17/2021 -- Bendix Home Appliances, dated 10/22/1940, frontloader with an automatic soap dispenser that utilizes a light sensor to determine the suds level in the drum for adjusting the dosage per water conditions, load sizes, and soil levels.
Thu 11/11/2021 -- Catherine R. Thomas, dated 01/28/1969. A washer with ability to wet and fast-freezing a garment, which is then thawed and washed normally as a method of handling difficult stains. The freezing and thawing process loosens stains that resist removal by conventional treatments.
Sun 11/21/2021 -- Pat 3,060,713 10/30/1962 is missing a description/text page. Does anyone recognize what brand with which it may have been associated?

Sat 01/08/2022 -- General Motors, dated 04/14/1959, toploading combination washer/dryer, with the tub changing orientation from vertical for washing to a horizontal angle for tumble-drying.
Thu 01/13/2022 -- N.B. Wales, dated 01/13/1948, combination washer/dryer, with the drum rotation via a "blast" of air aimed at scoop-vanes on the exterior circumference.
Would love to see the prototype (if one existed) of this washer/dryer. I'll bet it was loud.

Thu 02/10/2022 -- Westinghouse, dated 05/05/1970. If I'm understanding the description correctly, it's a mechanism to insure the spin basket rotates (indexes) in only one direction during agitation to avoid bi-directional indexing from impairing load rollover with a ramped agitator.
Sat 02/12/2022 -- R.H. Whiteley (independent), dated 05/31/1938. A dual-impeller washer with optional/removable mesh basket (presumably for delicates), and a wringer head and/or a twin-tub style spinning extractor.
Sun 02/13/2022 -- Mathew Hurwitz, dated 02/25/1975. Toploader using a water nozzle agitator. The feed tube seems an obstruction to loading/unloading. Apparently has Whirlpool roots, although Whirlpool is not stated as the filer or directly mentioned in the description.
