Before the fliptab Sony 'digital' mechanical clocks, there was Pennwood-Numechron Tymeter. I had 3 of them (not pictured) and grandpa had the last one (on the page), he worked for National Cash Register. If he'd left me anything, wish it had been that.

Notice in many photos, at least one digit is out of alignment with the others? Took some tinkering with the detent springs to get them not to do that. I built a neon lamp into mine so they worked in the dark.

Anybody remember, collect, restore these?

i've got one that is dated 1961;it works but will need some motor repairs if
i was to use it daily. The number drums can be seen to faintly glow blue in
very dark conditions-probably were a little brighter 50yrs ago.

Fun clocks. They must not have been all that common. I remember the "flip digit" clocks of the 60's - like the one that was in the TV series "LOST". But I don't recall ever seeing a tumbler digit clock like the Numechron until now.

That "Tenite" plastic sounds horrible. I imaging one could fairly easily fabricate a more durable replacement fin for the clock that is missing one, out of Delrin or Nylon or similar whitish plastic. Probably would have to replace all the fins, though, so they would match.

Maybe I had a boring late childhood, but I'd stay awake at night waiting for it to say "12:34".

I'm still obsessed with clocks, to a degree. The house has 8 and they're all within 5 seconds of each other and NIST.
