HFCS???

Sounds like an abomination of a sweetener in all honesty, but I wonder how much of the obesity link can be pointed at a change in serving size rather than sweetner?

Think back a couple of decades (for those of us old enough to do that!) and reflect on the size of cups from places such as McDonalds etc....

...and have a look at the size of coffee cup servings and all the different syrups you can now have...

Everything in moderation....just it seems our 'moderation' may have been 'supersized'

Ralph,

No need to wait for Coke to come out with their version. Just go to a Mexican market and buy some heche en Mexico Coke.

I finally found some Pepsi throwback at the local Safeway today. $2.50 per eight pack. I think I like the Mexican coke better, but maybe it's just the bottle vs. the can, and I'm just going on memory at this point, haven't had any Mexicoke for months.

In the same Safeway, down on the bottom shelf with "gourmet" sodas, was a six pack of Coke Classic - in little 8 oz bottles!

I don't recall if Coke came in 8oz bottles when I was a kid, but it's certainly possible!

The price was a bit steep: $5.50 for a six pack of 2/3 size bottles. But I might get a pack... the bottles are cute and might make good bud vases.

Rich, those small Cokes we knew as kids came in 6 oz bottles. If memory serves me, some of those bottles were labeled as 6.5 oz. In any case, by today's standards that's about a shot glass worth. I remember hating those old (even when I was a kid they were old) Coke refrigerator cases where you had to grab the bottle by the neck and yank it to one side to extract it. I was always afraid I'd break the bottle. Quite often the clerk would have to step in and help somebody because the mechanism was really unforgiving.

I think maybe I'm just not into colas enough to have the sugar vs HFCS thing be an issue for me. If I could afford it, I'd have cases of those cute little 12-oz plain, unflavored Calistogas rotating through my fridge on a regular basis. Nob Hill stores around here have been known to carry them, but they're difficult to find. Nothing seems to quench my thirst better. Except maybe an ice cold beer on a hot day.

Ralph
