Let's have another percolator/coffee pot thread!

I'll start!

Found this at a thrift store today for $7.99. In the picture below, I'm running dishwashing detergent through it to clean it out.

It turned out wonderfully clean! Coffee in it tomorrow morning!

Fred, as Robert knows, I absolutely love these percolators. I have several, including one that has never been used with the original paper inserts. They make wonderful coffee. I'd been familiar with the style all through my growing up years, but did not know until the earlier part of this decade about the ones that lit up inside. I use one of mine anytime I have guests. Even those with no interest in appliances are always entertained by these!

By the way I see you borrowed my vacuum! I didn't even notice it missing, I must have been at work. Did you like it? ;-)

Here's my newest addition!!

Fred I love your new coffee maker. I am still looking for one of these. There are so few percolators around here anymore!! This beautiful Cory was a gift to me from Dan Pontow from the vacuum club!! I remember seeing these way back and always thought they were so neat!! 18 cups no less!!

I Love The Lifelongs!

Proctor-Silex had a great concept: Design the appliances to be easily taken apart, so that you can replace only the part that's broken or no longer working. The idea was right-on, but Lifelongs never sold as well as they should have--and the idea wasn't copied by other small appliance makers.
I wonder if parts for that Lifelong percolator are still available.

Pyrex stove top perc.....

I've had this Pyrex percolator for years....its all glass
Everyone that comes to my house tells me how good my coffee
always is but I think its the brand of coffee you use and
the water. I use Maxwell House Master Blend and just cold tap
water when I make coffee. My secret is to put just a pinch
of salt on the coffee grounds before I perk it.

Butch!

I have the same Pyrex percolator. My OL gave it to me when they moved; she had it for 40+ years, I had it only 2 months before I managed to smash the top! I was lucky to find a replacement at a junk store. Whew! I handle it very carefully now, as the glass stem and basket must be impossible to replace. It does make great cawfee - my pals agree with yours.

ptcruiser51........

Be careful Charlie, they're only glass ya know !

Actually, my closest and bestest friend (yogitunes) found another pot and lid at some junk store one day and gave them to me. If I ever see the basket and stem somewhere I'm going to pick them up too.....just to have replacements.

I love making coffee in this pot. People actually set and watch it perk because you can see all the action.

Good luck with yours, I KNOW you make excellent coffee!

XRAYTECH

I have 2 of those Cory percs and they do make the best coffee.I was surprised at how much they cost new. They are stainless steel and I think real gold plating as far as I can tell.Bobby

Veg,

I found a West Bend perc like yours in the Scandia pattern, and it hardly heats the water. I bought it at an estate sale, and it looks like it was never used, just taken out of the box and looked at. I love my Corning Electric perc, Spice of Life pattern.

Oh no you didn't.....

start a coffee pot thread over here, and not tell me. Terry, what am I gonna do with you?

Gary - look familiar? The box you have with yours is fantastic.

I'm so sorry Rick, I forgot that you were into coffee pots as well!!LOL I do believe that Universal Regency is the most elegant of all!!! Gary, where in the world did you ever get that box?>?WOW Greg, Great idea, I think I might start doing the same display. My shelf for coffeemakers is full and this will really help!!

Gary, where in the world did you ever get that box?

At a Tag Sale Terry.

That is one of my favorite perks.

Here is the most expensive perk in my colletion. Think it cost me nearly $150 years ago from Ebay.

A Starbucks french press, an old grinder, a Chinese Farberware, two Sunbeams, a 40s Kenmore, two Corningwares (one stovetop, one Electromatic). ALL work, except the one sunbeam (that's halfway open) needs a new gasket.
