Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Not to Worry, Kelly -

Farberware baskets and stems turn up all the time on eBay.

I have one of the old Bronx-made 12-cup electrics, and a 12-cup stovetop model. I know nothing about the new Chinese-made Farberware pots - whether they're any good or not. But the old ones are great.

Import

This one has an odd plug like the ones used on Panasonic electrics and its Chinese. Perhaps it will cause the coffee to have more anti-oxidents like Chinese green tea.

Veg, is the trivet under your perc part of the set, or an ensemble of your own creation? I have an older electric Corning that has a sort of black plastic disc that serves as the trivet.

Danemodsandy, I have two of the newer Farberwares. They work well and so far have held up well. A few subtle differences you would notice is whatever that "piece" they used to put around the stems is no longer there, it's just the metal now, and the open ended handle of the 8 cup one, the plastic is thinner now toward the bottom of the handle. I don't think the perforations in the basket and basket lid are quite smooth as the old either, I can't use the Dishmaster on it because the bristles get caught. I do have a number of extra parts because I've had a number of them over the years and save handles, lids and anything that could possibly come in handy or be reused.

Hi Hans! I've seen you posting but didn't realize until Terry called you out that it was you. You have a new posting name now. Nice to see you here.

N I B

Hey Terry, the guy has had this store since 1947,he thinks everything is worth more than it really is,but there are some good deals to be had, several new westinghouses,a few sunbeams,ge s and a large assortment of other small appliances.

Hans, thanks so much for the information!! I would sure love to visit that store!!LOL So good to have you back with us. Give Donald a hug for me. Terry

Scott, the trivet is a separate, unrelated piece; I have two of them. Once, at a friend's office, I saw the 11X15 or so cornflower "counter saver" and was sorely tempted to abscond with it! I've never been able to find the official black plastic trivet that goes under the Electromatic. But that's okay, since this way I get to have more cornflowers on my counter!
I made some cornflower placemats to go with the cornflower dishes and flatware. It's an obsession...

You still

didn't answer my question above, Mr. O-Matic!

Remember, I was offering my Amana Radarange RR700 in holy matrimony to you once upon a time, so answer my dammed question.

please!

Grinding Veggie Coffee

I have the same grinder as veggie and really like it. It came from eBay and the seller was a real hose beast. By the time the grinder finally arrived, I had forgotten the glass measure and thrown it away amongst the packing. A vintage Kitchenaid replacement appeared on eBay and another bidder was bidding against me like crazy. In communications with the seller I advised her why it was more than just collector's glass. My last bid was $42.00 and I emailed the seller to let her know it was getting too rich for my blood. Lo and behold three more measuring glass where posted on eBay at the same time, one vintage and two newer ones. So you guessed it. With shipping I became the proud owner of a 52.00 glass. And as I'm sure you already guessed I broke it within a month. Now I just let the grinds flow into the basket.

Gary,

I have the same Dormeyer, except mine has a black base. I believe these are from circa 1957-1959 IIRC. My wife had to use a perc for awhile and had forgotten how much hotter coffee was from a perc vs. a POS Mr. Coffee. I got my Dormeyer when Grandma Baumann moved into assisted living, she bought it brand new.

Gary, I love the Vernado, is that a US brand, maybe the same as the fans? Also the 4 Maid, what is the story on that one. Just beautiful all lit up!!

Veg, I love your placemats!! What's in the bowl that looks so delicious?

Thanks Veg, and I love your placemats!

Kelly, I don't believe I've ever seen that grinder with a black base. That is my favorite model of the KA grinders.

Gary, you have just the most delightful collection.

Black Base

This grinder is from the 60's and began as white. They all age to nicotine beige. I applied Rustoleum's new Professional Touch. It flows on like a dream and is quite shiny. I've used it on several mixers as well.

Sorry, Lawrence--I thought it was a rhetorical question. Answer? Getting any ink at all is out of the question. Don't like 'em, never have.

Terry, that's Baked Potato Soup AKA Heart Attack in a Bowl. Delicious, but one serving a year is about anyone should eat.

Now here's a question for the KA Coffee Mill owners among us: How the heck are you supposed to clean the dern things? I'd heard someone mention grinding raw rice every now and then and I tried that with less-than-spectacular results.

Trivet-less Veg

The next flea market is the end of August so I'll look for your trivet there. The last flea market netted a Westy perc and two Corning, both with their trivets so keep the faith - one will turn up for you.

Yes, I tossed the extras in the thrift store box, didn't imagine anyone would need one!

Veg, Hon...

"Terry, that's Baked Potato Soup AKA Heart Attack in a Bowl. Delicious, but one serving a year is about anyone should eat."

And the recipe is?

Please?

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?

Corning Ware-Blue Cornflower

I found a vintage stove top model, never used. I have a question though and that is when you use one of these what setting should I set my electric glass top range on to perculate the coffee? I hope this does not sound stupid but I really do not know?
