OHHH I'll be right over!! Love the coffee maker, the Whirlpool cups, and those bright napkins!! The cake looks great too!! What kind is it Fred??

This morning I dug out my grandmother's 16cup Priscilla Ware stovetop perc and brewed a pot full. I think stovetop made coffee is even better than from an electric pot, because I can control the brewing time. Just my $.02 worth.

Sometimes I hesitate posted facts or figures for fear I'm correct. Its not uncommon to be assailed with how wrong you are if the case is so. I spoke to a pumice filter on the stem of the Farberware to absorb oils and prevent bitter coffee. I given that explanation for the extra tube on the Farberware stem.
Turns out I am dead wrong. A very kind, gentle member who worked for Farberware emailed off thread to tell me the real story. The tube is ceramic. The Farberware pot begins to perc instantly and advertises a cup a minute. The ceramic tube inulated the stem keeping it cool to prevent the early burbles from making it out the tube. When the ceramic tube warmed through it stopped cooling the stem and allowed the superheated water to perk over the grounds making one cup of coffee in the advertised 1 minute. To my friend, I always loved you, but a man who protects his brother's ego is a man among men!. XO

Look what followed me home

I've never seen this pattern before. It's an electric percolator, and unlike every other Corningware I've ever seen, it takes a regular cord. A good thing since the original cord is missing...along with the stem and basket. But the heater part seems to work, and looks amazingly clean.

Oh yes, most definitely! That was a fun design!

I think my Corning takes a regular cord too. I wonder if that special cord as the same as one of those handmixer type detachable cords except with perhaps a heavier heater grade cord.

Go Large

It's my only percolator!

A DeLonghi 20-60 cup stainless wonder. And... it's NOT made in China! (Made in Korea).

It actually makes excellent coffee. But I don't use it very often, only for larger gatherings of 10 or more people.

But hey, it's just the ticket for filling up Pee-Wee's little pink plastic Thermos full of java jive!

It's got some nice features. All 18-8 stainless construction, including spring loaded coffee basket. The bubbler on top is glass, not plastic. There's an on light (when you plug it in) and then a row of lights that function as the "Freshness Indicator". These let you know how many hours have elapsed since the coffee was first brewed. If I owned a diner I might put some tape over that part.

;-)

Oh my word!

My favourite aunt, (no longer alive) had that GE Oval perc...been looking for a working example of it.

My second favourite aunt (still alive at 84,) had the big Sunbeam perc (it died....) and I'm also looking for a working example.

My Mom received an oval GE perc as a wedding shower gift in 1967. It lasted until 1985, after years of heavy use. I found one for her on Ebay a couple of years ago, she loves it,and I found one for myself at an estate sale a short while later.
