Wanted something liquid or gel format for when doing colors at low temps in the AEG. As there are no choices among American TOL detergents that lack OBAs for colors went for a bottle of Persil color gel as one finds it at reasonable price locally.

Did a load of darks last night in the Oko-Lavamat and all one can say is the stuff packs quite a whiff. Now one knows this scent of old since Henkel uses it for Persil's rinse disinfectant. But unlike that product the detergent seems to linger and is more powerful. Left things to dry on clothes horse and at once the place began to fill with the scent. This morning went to take the washing down and fold, scent is retains the powerful punch. All this with using <15ml of the stuff, probably like 10ml or 9ml since the load was small and know recommended dosages of Persil are often way too much for either of my machines.

I'm a huge fan of the powders, but the liquids, not so much. You're right, they're strongly scented. Ok, they stink. They scent stays in the washing too. I've put sheets away for the season and they still smell when used again. That and and it morphs into something almost off- mildewy, or something.

Thing is one used so little and laundry still came out of the machine with a powerful whiff. Imagine if one used a full dose? Whoa Nellie!

Cleaning ability was quite good as was rinsing. May try using the "sensitive" setting on the Oko-AEG which uses more water for rinsing to see if it cuts down on the remaining scent. That or try in the Miele which uses way more water for both washing and rinsing.

Did it come in a small bottle with the handle?
If yes, that's the old Dixan/Persil gel I used to love....nothing like today's gels (which are not gels), that stuff was really concentrated!
Too bad it was withdrawn when all makers started this new "concentrated"-actually not, fashion, so selling less product claiming being concentrated, they started making money off this trend too.....they started so making this new gel version which isn't gel actually and is totally different on everything, scent too...now it stink, and that comes in a shampoo like bottle, it's nothing I'd call concentrated....
Looks like in Germany you can find a gel in a bottle also, but not sure it's like the old gel, maybe that's the one you got.
How I miss the old really concentrated gel, as thick that it did stay firm in the detergent drawer in a FL and in the filter pan of the FF... It had an awesome scent also.

Only One Version of Persil Gel Is Sold In USA

Comes in clear jug type bottles with a handle.

Now that is the official version imported by MieleUSA and sold via themselves and authorized distributors. Elsewhere in shops and or various websites you can often find different versions of Persil gels or liquids that come in containers such as solid white. Have learned via another post from an EU club member much of that product are the "Eastern European" versions and or other Persil products not always sold in Germany.

Imagine one using regular Tide and r. Persil in a twintub, one spin and one fill rinse, and smelling NOTHING. I thought my 5-rinse FL was thorough.

Maybe it's the spinner that leaves single molecules of scented water?

Miele Ultra Color Liquid

I use this for colors when washing in cold water and get very good results.  I also have Persil Gel for colors and I don't see any difference between these two.  The Miele liquid has a faint fragrance, but leaves no scent in the clothes afterwards - at least I can't smell anything.  It works well on stains.  I used it on spilled ketchup stains 4 days old  and it removed them in warm water of 104F.  The ingredients on the bottle do not list any OBAs.

I have an older bottle that does 33 loads using the dosing instructions on the bottle. I ignore the dosing directions on the bottle and use about 1/2 cap full or less -  the stuff lasts a long time.

You can find it at the Miele store site under laundry care/liquid detergents.

Local shop that sells Persil Gel Also Had The Miele

In fact even the PC Richards store in our area sells Miele laundry and dishwasher products. went for the Persil Gel because it was cheaper than Miele's colour care offering and well one sort of trusts that Henkel/German technology. If one knew then what one knows now..... *LOL*

Three days after laundering/drying and things still reek of the Persil gel. If it wasn't a sin to waste water and energy would rewash the lot.

I was unsure about the Miele detergent but got it and found that it is made by kreussler in Wiesbaden Germany.  Looked them up on the web and it seems that they sell commercial detergents to laundrys, so I felt a bit better.  Of course we still pay the "markup" price in the USA.

I will say that the powder for whites does contain oxygen bleach and OBAs.  The liquid and Powder are OBA free which is what I like.  Even their fabric softener doesn't leave a scent and both Persil and Miele seem to work well for me so I tend to alternate products.

I was thinking about getting a fresh bottle of Persil Color Gel but after hearing about this strong new scent-----maybe NOT.

Why did I not read this first!!

I bought the Persil super color gel.

The scent is so strong it has brought on a headache.

I was tempted because it was a Henkel Persil here in New Zealand.
Maybe if we had a separate laundry or wash-house. Maybe if we were tumble dryer types.

Back to the shop sorry.

have the

Persil proclean and proclean 2 in 1 from walmart but don't use liquids very often..I washed a pair of grandsons black fleese pants with the proclean and hung to dry and the next day the smell was overpowering..since I washed them alone on gentle low water level (standard top loader) and only used about 2teaspoons I felt they rinsed well on one rinse ...I was wrong..so I washed a fleese blanket 2 rinses and hung to dry ..same thing..I haven't figured out yet if its due to the fabric type or air drying.
