A neighbor had a 1956 Philco range. It had dials for the 5 heat monotube units. Both the oven bake element and the broil element were open coil type. The broiler element pulled forward to accommodate a heavy cast aluminum griddle that sat on top of it. We fried hamburgers on it once. Philco was the only range manufacturer I know of that put a piece of glass between the broiler element and the food. This range has the receptacle for the griddle in the middle of the cooktop. I hope those three letters under the price spell NOW and not NEW because that is a 1957 or 58 range. Philco was making electric ranges in the 1940s.
