Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Ken, perhaps but,

could it be possible that Kelvinator built that machine back then?
Most of Borg Warners operations were still in Muncie Indiana back then.
I know the area well where the Kelvinator plant was. The front office tower still stands. The other plants in that vicinity were Detroit Diesel, a supermarket chain warehouse, and small machine tool and dye shops. Massey Ferguson was close, but in another postal code.

That machine was built by Bendix. It is an oversized bolt down Bendix. Jeff and I analyzed the service manual and it is all Bendix. Norge wanted to establish a name in the emerging automatic washer field before their top loader was ready so they sold this for a year or two. Prospective owners who were wise kept their wringer washer to provide somewhat better water extraction than this machine provided.
