Today at the local thrift/charity shop I bought a black Bosch dishwasher. It doesn't look too old to me, but I don't know squat about dishwashers. The model number is: SMU 3036, and it says made in Germany.

So...I paid $30.00 Canadian bucks for it. Does anyone know how old it may be? The inside looks real good, but the toe kick is missing. I'm hoping I can find a toe kick. Where would I start looking?

How easy are Bosch dishwashers to repair? I'm not a pro and I'm better than an amatuer.

If all goes well, this will be replacing my 1988 Whirpool Gold. How do the two compare against each other. Are Bosch dishwashers considered OK in thier cleaning ability?

You could start by calling Bosch service and giving them the model number, "to help find out the age of the dishwasher in my new house." Then you can see if Consumer Reports for that year rated dishwashers and if Bosch was included in the report. Or you could try Googling Bosch and the model number and see if anything turns up. You might find entries on discussion groups, maybe even some inexpensive source for the toe plate.
