I usually can't resist a vintage stove or fridge, but for $10 this portable Kitchen Aid dishwasher in coppertone really caught my eye. It was in such nice condition, I couldn't pass it up. I don't have any experience with this model, is it a relatively well-built machine?

KDS57A

Came out around 1975 and continued till the KD18s came out in late 1977. It looks like you got a good one Kevin its in great condition. It often seems that a lot of portables are found that were hardly used as people decided that they were just too much trouble to use.

<span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">Very nice!!!</span>

<span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">Looks to be in great shape!</span>

<span style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: medium;">I agree with John.  I find that the portables were not used very much.</span>

<span style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: medium;">They were so heavy to begin with.  Then when you loaded it to the max you almost doubled the weight.</span>

<span style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: medium;">I don't think housewives could handle pushing them around if the sink was not close enough!</span>

<span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">You got a very good deal on this one!  Love the color!</span>

<span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">Hi Kevin, </span>
<span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">Where did you find it? </span>
<span style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: medium;">I can't get over how great it looks. The chopping block looks new! </span>
<span style="font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: medium;">Do you have a space for it in your kitchen? You will love using it when you get used to the racking. </span>

what a beautiful portable

kitchenaid! 17 model, my all time favorite! and coppertone too! that is one great lookin machine! and parts are still available should you need them. but i doubt that you will, probably doesn't leak a drop!

enjoy it!!!

Brent - I found this at an estate sale. It was in the basement, next to a beautiful 1952 Caloric gas stove (which some lucky shopper got for $30!). The guy who was holding the sale helped me carry it up the stairs, and so I found out just how heavy it was. It seems to be very well made.
