A relative bought an older home as a bank repo and has been updating and fixing it up. Anyway his MIL insisted they needed a new dishwasher and bought them one. The old one was working so I asked if I could have it. It was going in the junk.
Anyway model is SHU5001-0 serial is f05064853 from a couple of sites it could be from 1970 or 1980, how is that determined?
I'm putting it in my basement, making a few changes, adding a Whirlpool Duet and a Maytag A209 to my existing Kenmore 90 series electronics. I just want the dishwasher to clean junky messy stuff - waste baskets, my floor scrubber dirty water collection tank, and my dad's urinals - none of which I want in my good machine.
The racks are in perfect shape as is the machine overall. It's all porcelain on steel, no discoloration. 4 cycles labeled A, B, C on the dial plus high temp, energy saver and rinse hold, the energy saver makes me think it's an 80's model, don't think that existed in 70...
Anyway, anyone have any experience with these units? Little bummed, was cleaning it up with Windex, and it took off most of the painted lettering on the panel, weird.
