Wow Petey, nice job! May you and Gene always be happy there.

I'm a pretty sound sleeper, so it wouldn't be a problem for me to live in the pump house...

P.S. I like YOUR furniture a lot better!

Congratulations Pete! Looks like a 1950's dream house. Can't wait to see how you guys decorate it. Love the natural landscape too! Looks very well kept.
Enjoy many years there!
Rick

Good chance the furniture was from Holland Louis seeing as they're Dutch..note the blue shutters and the blue paint around the garage door windows,,more giveaways. The stove is probably on rollers because those Dutch housewives are notorious for housecleaning. The freezer goes but we have our own already, fortunately a bit smaller than theirs and we don't use it much anymore. I'd forgotten about the clothes line pulley, that's a bonus, I always wanted one of those.
As to sq footage I'm guessing it's around 2800 sq ft which is plenty big enough for just us. The basement is finished with a rek room, a bedroom and that furnace/workshop area. Odd that they never had garage door openers though, I figure everyone has them these days. And their fridge that's being left is a real snore one door Danby. All nothing a trip to Sears etc won't fix.

Pete, What a beautiful home!! I just love what they have done with the yard and that little log cabin is so cute. Wishing you many years of happiness there!! Terry

I didn't even notice the LR furniture - I'm with you Louis! ;-) I like the tile accents around the fireplace and kitchen, that adds a lot of character.

That backyard is very nice and the porch is very well done. I should marry someone that could do that in mine! Here, the back of the house isn't usually as nice as the front - generally a wood deck with simple railing (which are now falling off houses in record numbers 6 people injured in a 10' drop a couple of weeks ago)

Best wishes for both of you in your beautiful new home!

Just imagine how nice it will look after the first snowfall...

Very nice

Beautiful home Pete! May you be healthy and happy there for many years to come!

Heather

Let me echo what others have said about furniture - as I remember, yours is MUCH more interesting.

I'd hazard a guess that that living room fireplace has been tampered with - sometimes the original lurks just underneath, if that interests you.

Congratulations on your new home. It is a beauty!

Droopy decks...

I would imagine part of the problem has been wood that wasn't maintained, but with the super-treated wood available now, that isn't as big of an issue as proper building techiques. Many of the falling decks have been built outside of long-standing codes and secured to the frame of the house with nails instead of lag-bolts. Mine was secured with lag-bolts that were too short for the application - they only went into the header about 1/2" and in addition to 20 years of shady location rot, the deck was pulling out of the wall. It would have gone at any time - probably most certainly when we were having the convention with all those people outside! Luckily, we removed it and put in a small patio before that. I'm not a yard person whatsoever and haven't used the patio since June '05.

Congrats Pete

Beautiful home, the quality and wt. of the materials probably could not be bought for love or money nowdays. That yard is beautiful, warmer than usual for this time of year there? arthur.

Pete....Just beautiful!!

Congrats!! Do try to find out what they used on that lawn! (And then let us know, PLEASE!?) :o)

Speaking of the fireplace, that was one minor area of concern pointed out by the inspector. They've installed gas firelogs and locked the damper open (required) however he says that doing so without installing a metal chimney insert can damage the brickwork, which is beginning to happen. Also the fact that the damper is open year round, out goes your heat. So I plan on eventually installing a proper gas fireplace insert.

I'd also like to know what they use on that lawn, hopefully I can ask them because the grass is beautiful. (what it'll be like after Parker and Ben whiz away on it daily is another story..at least the front should remain nice). It's an easy area to garden in because of it's proximity to Lake Huron only a short walk away, everythings built on sand, no clay whatsoever under there.

New Home

Wow, thats' a great piece of property, Sarnia is just over the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, Welcome to the neighborhood, only 2 1/2 hrs from Pinconning, Mi
You'll have some great Snowfall in that area, especially Lake effect snow.
