Hmmmm---the old "worked last time we used it" line. Wonder why the timer dial is stopped in the middle of the wash cycle.
Well, they certainly cleaned it up. Seems to me if they went to all that trouble, they would have fired her up to see how she works. (With some water in the pump I would hope!)
Nonetheless, a nice machine to have.

many moons ago, I had the pleasure of using a maytag, with a time fill, not metered, 3 wash temps, and one cycle, I never understood the time fill considering it was not a overflo style, but the normal helical drive with the perforated tub, and an agitator from a wringer, not a powerfin, the water valves didn't work so we had to fill it with hoses manually, but under the time fill, wouldn't there be cause for a flood, for the first fill you could adjust the time, but when it came to rinse it had a full fill every time, you would have to monitor it manually, unless the drain hose was placed at a certain level to let the excess flo out....this was the only one I have ever seen like this....not the best machine, but it worked for what we needed at the time, I also don't recall front access, but a removable panel on the rear...

Nope. Most problems with time filled machines was low water pressure in older homes, causing the machine to agitate before the tub was completely filled. Every GM Frigidaire washer I've played with was timed filled.
Now, if you had a timer issue and it didn't advance during the fill, then there may be some flooding issues.

Looks like alot of the buttons (temp for example) are chewed up. One wonders what lurks under her skirts...

Looks like the puddle of oil is under the machine now - you can see hints of it on the floor and the edge of the panel.
