Many thanks to Jerry, Tom, & Drew

for their hospitality. and to all for answering my many questions. I had a great time. The DuQuesne Incline was pretty cool, too.

Thanks again,

Jim

Thank You!

I had a great time, even though it was short. It was certainly worth the 10-hour round trip from Cincinnati and I hope to make it back in the future.

To clarify before someone else does, the Kenmore with water in the transmission was brought to the wash in, but not opened up. The transmission being serviced is from a Maytag A702 belonging to Classiccaprice, but currently living at my home in Cincinnati. The O-ring in the bottom of the transmission had failed and it had leaked oil. I've been working on trying to replace that o-ring for months but couldn't get the new one to seat properly. As the gurus at the wash in determined, part of the old o-ring was still in the groove, preventing the new one from seating properly! The groove is down in the input shaft tube, so it is quite difficult to see and my poor eyesight and dexterity didn't help. Thanks to the assistance from several wash-in guests, the transmission is now all set to be reassembled.

Thanks to our generous hosts and the good company!
Dave

I understand about the poor eyesight and dexterity. If this were 50 years ago, my glasses would be tri-focals so thick they'd look like cataract lenses...and that'd be without the prisms to (partially) correct for the strabismus, amblyopia, severe convergence insufficiency, and a few other things I've forgotten. Suffice to say, if I were at Hogwarts, I would NOT be on the Quidditch team! That's why I have all those cuts and bruises on my shins; I'm constantly walking into things.

I'm just happy that all these vision issues only affect my 3D functioning, not 2D so driving is fine :-)

That's actually another attraction of aw.org: I get exposure to all sorts of things I was shut out of when I was younger because I couldn't pick things up fast enough. Zero depth perception + machinery rarely = a good time!

Jerry,

Thanks for the photos. You have a vacation in your backyard. At 6:30 PM it's almost 110 degrees in mine, even hotter tomorrow. Go out there and hug those trees.
