Hi Everyone, I've been working diligently on a major new feature for automaticwasher.org since last Autumn. I'll get into exactly what this new feature is in another post but for now I need some help from as many users as possible to download this .pdf file and check it out for me on your computer(s). A pdf file is a special kind of computer file that is used to read and print scanned documents. Today's .pdf test file is the How to Install Your New Kenmore Automatic Washer from 1963 which is the complete 4 page installation instructions that came packed in every Kenmore automatic washer in the early and mid 1960s.
First here is the link to a sample download page <<<----------PLEASE CLICK on this link and download the test .pdf on that page.
Since the file is only go to be available to for a few days (then I'm going to take down that page) when you download this file its important to SAVE it to your hard drive so you have it forever, not just open it in your browser. So if your browser asks you to OPEN or SAVE, please select SAVE.
Now please examine the file and let me know what you think.
<ul>
<li>Notice the quality of the scan and clarity of the text, is the file clear and very readable to you?</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>For those with a printer available, can you print the document, how does the printed version look? For those with laser printers would you say it looks close to if not as good as you would expect the original document to look?</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Were you able to download the file and save it to your hard drive so you have the file forever, even after I remove this sample download page? Did your browser ask you whether you would like to OPEN or SAVE the file? After the file was finished downloading did your browser let you know it was done?</li>
</ul>
Any other issues with downloading or any reading this document. I again I want to stress how important it will be to know how to save the file to your hard drive and not just read it in your browser. Oh and by the way, for Apple iPad users, when I was at the Apple Store yesterday testing this on the iPad I noticed that you had to save it to iBooks after it downloaded. So be sure to try that.
Thanks everyone and enjoy this vintage Kenmore document. This is only the beginning of something that I'm hoping will turn out to be truly wonderful!
