I think I found your answer or at least a starting point.

If you check TRAINGUY'S PIC COLLECTION he has a set in his collection that looks like a match for you. It's a 56 Frigidaire Imperial Unimatic Washer & filtrator dryer. His collection is posted under the photo tab and it's #9 out of the 19 he has posted.

The dryer's a dead ringer for yours. Only difference, his is white.

Hope this helps you out.

Have a Good One,
Rick

You have…….

a 1956 Sherwood Green (not turquoise) Frigidaire Filtra-Matic No Vent Dryer in your basement…PAT COFFEY

Great find

DI56. The model no. is usually found on a metal tag just below the door opening when you pull out the Filtrator cartridge. 1956 was the only year I know of where they used white porcelain on the top of the washer and dryer with cabinets in color.

No-Vent? I'm so checking this out! Did it actually work? or did you have a house full of lint? What about the moisture? Where did that go?

Questions to be researched...

This is a 1956 Top of the Line Frigidaire vent-free dryer. The water is condensed and placed into the pan at the bottom of the dryer.

You can download the service manual for that machine is here:
http://www.automatice.org/cgi-bin/index.cgi?showdoc~283~Frigidaire~

I don't have an owners manual loaded for that dryer, but the 1958 manual can be downloaded here and the DCI-58 model and instructions are similar to your DI-56.

1956 Frigidaire

I still say Frigidaire's 1956 laundry appliances are a great example of how to add color to today's miserably-boring washers and dryers.  All tops were white (porcelain enamel) and only the cabinets were colored.  Great precedent for painting white cabinets and leaving the tops and consoles alone.
