Handsome-looking machines - do any of these survive? The Dispensomat feature was so ahead of its time. Did these Norge washers have the same rather brutal agitation as the simpler machines featured in the POD back on the 17th January? Also, when were these machines in production?

I've always wondered about

the model. She has to stand behind the machine, pour Sta-Puff in the cup on the front, hold her other arm up pointing to the other laundry products and smile and look into the camera. Every time I see this ad I wonder how takes did they do to get everything together. For some reason I envision a pool of Sta-Puff on top of the machine.

Well, if Mark got one I think he would have given me a shout. He isn't too thrilled about old Norge's, however, I think he wouldn't mind finding one of these.
I am thinking about someone who is very private and I understand that. When I last saw his machines they were pristine and he knows how to work on them.

Mark loaned me an early sixties Kelvy for a while years ago. It also had all the built in dispenser compartments on top. The LCB proved very corrosive. The gadgets were a nice sales tool, however, I don't think they did much towards the longevity of service life. Especially with machines that were very splashy anyway. Console cancer.

I saw several of these. Some of them looked a little different. Some had a clock too I think. They looked the same inside as any Norge of the time, like a Time Line inside. Norge washers were fine to rebuild for the resale floor but not these. They had to be guaranteed and there was too much to go wrong. They did have an attractive fluorescent console light.

I said this once before and got jumped on by some members, but almost all of these I saw were a gummed-up mess in the dispensers. It looked like it was due to undissolved powders. I remember in some cases the dispenser cover was gummed-up stuck closed. I used a screwdriver to peek inside. I am sure there were owners that took care of these Dispensomats, I just remember the ugly ones. They smelled like Tide (like very old square tub Maytag wringers smelled like Ivory Soap). I remember weird stuff.

That agitator was just HUGE, esp. for the tub size. My parents had some good friends that had a Timeline burp-o-lator from the early 60's through the mid seventies. I remember when they replaced it with a Maytag she said "At least you can put some clothes in it." She liked the Maytag. But, boy, for pure drama, nothing beat a Norge.

The wave force agitation was interesting. If there were a lot of clothes in the tub it would was in a bloom, much like the current HE toploads today, until the overflow rinse came on then the clothes would reverse. Interesting.
