I wonder if the soap dispenser on the front of this machine was a flush-thru dispenser like the dispenser drawers on modern front loaders. I can see some problems with the idea. Bendix instructions said to wait until the fill was complete to add the soap and water softener and this front-mounted dispenser arrangement, if it was a flush through, would have flushed it in at the start of the fill. That would not have been good since the Bendix filled into the outer tub so the soap would probably have gone down into the sump where the pump protector was located. It seems like it would have been an awful messy dispenser if it was not a flush through type. I guess that they considered all of that because the soap chute was always on the top of the Bendix machines.

Hmmmm.

Good thought, but as I remember the Commercial Bendi that were in the Laundromats (ie: Double Loader) Had the lid on the top and you could watch the wash cylinder rotate and actually spray up water during the spin (I did this alot as a child when my Mom and I used to go to the Speed Wash in Buzzard's Bay) So Maybe... that was the same concept or design ?

Maybe with the dispenser lid closed the spin splatter was enough to keep it semi-flushed out?
