By the ad copy I assume the solid state touch pad controls on that Whirlpool were a new feature at the time. Im curious if those electronic controls back then were more reliable than we see on today's appliances? Or did they crap out in relative short order like is often mentioned here from owners of modern units?

Today's Picture of the Day

What a beautiful set. Wish they still made like this.

I purchased a Whirlpool Imperial set in 1989 with three speeds, step down agitation, and all the bells and whistles. TOL washer and dryer. It cost me $1100 then. Quality all the way. Unfortunately, I sold it with the house 10 years later and never had a problem with either the washer or dryer. The dryer was a dream.

Now I use front load washers, but they do not clean as well at the old Whirlpools that used spray rinses during the spin cycle and a deep rinse during the rinse cycles. It used lots of water. Oh for the good old days!

Stay well,

Richard
