Does anyone know the model year of the Kenmore 700? Always thought it was a sharp looking machine, and probably a very popular one. Assume it was standard capacity with roto swirl agitator. Cool that it had the detergent dispenser.

Barry, the 700 was the model before our 800. Detergent dispenser was something missing on this model. This model was arond 1970 (maybe late 1969) through 1972. 1973 saw the beginning of the notched wash lids replacing lids with actual handles.
The ad copy had a last order date of 11/15/71.

These were 1969 models although made for several years as Sears was good at doing that. Yes standard capacity with a gold super roto swirl. They were great and popular machines and for a 700 had most of the features anyone would want. The 700 had a timed bleach dispenser, infinite water level, second rinse option, soak cycle, and agitator mounted fabric softener dispenser. The 800 had a console light, detergent dispenser, timed fabric softener dispenser, a gold vari flex agitator and separate speed selector in addition to the 700 features. These were some of the greatest years for Sears.

Thank-you!!!! I was wondering the year. Very sharp looking machines. I would imagine anyone would be happy with them. I DO remember seeing them at Sears, and thought they would have been a step up from an old loud worn out SQ my mother had at the time. My folks had some money back then and I couldn’t understand why my mother didn’t get a new machine as nice as that one, eventually she bought a Wards Norge 20 lb capacity machine, it was noisy.....and I was so done with noisy appliances! My impressions as a kid growing up.
Thank you for the info.

Bob you are absolutely correct. I have too many Kenmores. Lol The 1965-1968 800 had the separate speed dial. I have a 1971 model 800 here I had to go double check and it does have a gold super roto swirl so that had changed since the 1969 models. The other feature on the 800 added in 1971 versus 1969 was the soak only or soak to wash toggle.

The one I have is courtesy of Kenny’s generosity. These were some of my favorite years for Sears washers and dryers. One of these days I’ll return it to it’s former glory. For some reason I don’t have a picture of it but it’s the same machine in today’s POD.
