POD 10.26.2019: 1976 Kenmore w/ Woodgrain Consoles

I spent 43 years thinking these circa ‘76 low-to-mid level Kenmores had the ugliest consoles ever stuck atop a washer. Despised the faux woodgrain and didn’t think much better of the font or the controls over it.

So, I opened today’s POD expecting the usual scowl and muttering; but then something happened: I took a sip of coffee and looked at those consoles...and suddenly they didn’t look so completely, terribly horrible.

I’m going to use this as proof that I have evolved since my junior year in high school, LOL.

Better than ever?

The voice in my head said uglier than ever, too!

I’d like to know how many of those WP/KM BDs were built before WP finally changed their design to DD. That was a long production run for a product with only minor changes to the basic platform.

Canadian models

While not horribly ugly, this console style isn't one of my favorites. These use the late 50's Whirlpool cabinet design, as they were made by Inglis/Whirlpool Canada.
