Is this a 57 or 58? I can't remember which year Hotpoint introduced the coaxial tranny where there is a pause between agitate and spin as opposed to jumping right into spin a la Speed Queen and Maytag AMP like Robert's 56 Hotpoint does.
The NARDA Appliance Trade In book lists the model as 1958. That light bar could be added to other Hotpoint washers, just as GE offered a similar one for a bit of lighted bling in the early 50s for their washers and dryers.
Mark Harman has one of those. Most of them had pretty short lives, however, I thought they were great washers as far as cleaning ability. That agitator was pretty aggressive.
