It is amazing to think that 'no need for a second wash' was used in KitchenAid dishwasher advertising!  Still, they weren't kidding - these old KitchenAid really did a remarkable job.  While I don't use my ol' KDC-P2 much, it impresses me every time I do.

Since these were SO powerful, were they ever at risk for damaging dishware and glassware on the thinner, more fragile side?
I don't imagine "stoneware" or earthenware was a big thing back then?

What John asked

I've also wondered the same thing after seeing comments here saying the single wash arm did a fine job getting water up to anything in the upper rack because they were so powerful. I would think any tableware with a pattern would have had it blasted away after not too long?

Kitchen Aid

I have been using this model (or one close to it) as my daily driver for about 6 months and it cleans everything very well! I haven't had any breakage and the whole thing is done in 30 minutes ( purge, wash, rinse, rinse ,dry). One thing I don't like is there is no door switch. You can get soaked in seconds if you open the door mid cycle (I speak from experience). Jeb
