This is the washing machine that first tweaked my interest in washing machines.  The Westinghouse FL from the early to mid 50’s is my very favorite of all time washers.

 

My favorite Aunt had a Westinghouse FL and dryer matched set exactly like the machine on the left in this ad.  The simplicity of these washers is beautiful to me.

We had one with the famous "potato pulley" and there was nothing it couldn't get clean. I also found that it could hold more laundry than it looks like it could. Our Queen comforter was a tight fit, but when the water hit it, it tumbled just fine and didn't tangle.
