The dream of chug-chug-chug-chug-chug-chug-chug-chug
in a laundromat did exists but was rare. Usually Speed Queens or "Maytag" laundromat. Once in Louisiana (Gonzales) 1976 or around that area was a "Wahs-A-Tieria" with a lot of pulsating action, but not limited to that. There were Kenmores, Speed Queens, and Some Whirlpools so is was a big mix.
Have an idea. Let's all get together and re-manfacture pulsator machines, we can call them the all new space age "Laundry Modifiers" and patent that name.

mixed laundries
Never saw a mixed laundry here in Los Angeles "Back In The Day". The only "mix" might be older models of the same brand. Speed Queen seems to be the standard now, but in the 60's, GE, Frigidaire, Maytag, Philco-Bendix, Whirlpool, Norge, AND Speed Queen were common. Never saw a laundry equipped with Kenmore, or Westinghouse FL or TL machines, though. If a laundry was equipped with FL machines, they were always Philco-Bendix. Also never saw a laundry equipped with Philco-Bendix TL machines.

Detroit Laundromats
In the Detroit area, there were plenty of laundromats under the banner of "Quick Clean." They featured Fridgidaires. It was a symphony of pulsating.....and those lovely timers chirping all over the laundromat. As a youngster, on the way to the Dairy Queen, I just had to stop by and check them out......all those windows.....checking out all the machines. I think the customers and management were ready to call the police......until the management got to know me....but when you are checking out the machines the customers were using....you got the eyeball!!! HAHA!!! In the 60's, The other popular machines in laundromats were Norges and Speed Queens. I also remember those tiny litte westinghouse coin tumblers. Life was good.
