So this full size three cycle washer was not available with a suds saver? How deluxe did KM washers have to be to have the suds saver option?

 

The tiny 24 inch machine machine with the 5 temperature selections and 3 water level selections, were those on the left side on the front like the 24 inch portable washers?

Suds-Savers In Bassic KMs, WPs

You had to go  up about one more model to get a machine with a SS built-In from the factory, WP-KM did sell a kit where a SS could be installed in about any washer except some portables on wheels.

 

The more deluxe 24" washer for $189 had a control panel at the rear for the controls.

Hello Folks!

The top washer/dryer set in today's POD 6.11.2020 is my dream set.

I love the maze lint filter and the gold roto-swirl agitator.

By any chance, does anyone here have that washer sitting in a shed or a storage unit somewhere?

Straight away, Gordon comes to mind.

If you have one and would be willing to strike a deal--lemme know.

My mother had that same top washer and it had a gold straight vane agitator and the maze filter that was a pain to clean although it did trap alot of lint.

Maze Lint Filter

In your opinion, what made the maze lint filter difficult to clean?

Because you had to bang it when wet on a hard surface to get the trapped lint to dislodge or run it under water and use a butter knife to dislodge lint. No where as easy as a filter flo to clean.

Those maze filters were as bad as Frigidaire’s bed of nails Jet-Flo filters...same thing...had to bang it on something to loosen the lint.  I broke two Frigidaire filters that way.

Full Size Model

The agitator in the full size model was a gold straight vane.

Gordon did have this model, actually two of them in his shed. They were stolen along with another 10 or 20 gems when his shed was robbed years ago. He had one of them in mind for me to take someday as this is my favorite Kenmore model. My aunt and uncle in Virginia, my friend across the street, and two other neighbors all had this exact washing machine, so this model is very nostalgic to me.

My mother used to bang the Frigidaire filter on the inside of the metal trash can to remove the lint when it was wet and easy to remove. That used to bring our miniature Schnauzer running and barking from the other end of the house where she had her office in my sister's bedroom.

My Kenmore portable washer has the lint filter aka the bed of nails lint filter in it. For some reason it filters out a lot of lint, and one time I was washing a blanket we use as a couch cover and it filtered out a lot of lint

RE: Reply #10: Well that is where she spent a lot of time sleeping. There was soft carpet on the floor and a nice bed she would sleep on and big pillows on the floor. She did not know what was making the noise because by the time she got out to the kitchen, mom was not  banging the lint tray any more so it bothered her every time. She would also come running, even if she had been asleep when mom cracked a hard boiled egg because she expected a bit of it for herself.  Her sense of smell was so great that if anyone peeled a banana she was right there to share some of it, even if she had been asleep in her office.

That lint filter looks like it would be a pain the butt to clean after every load, not to mention time consuming. I would think that would get old.
Think the GE Filter Flo's were better, easier. Just my humble opinion.

Had a GE small washer with bed of nails filter. If one whacked the thing against a hard surface just after laundry was done, things were fine. OTOH if allowed to dry and become crusted that was another matter. Then the thing required shoving under running water, picking out debris and or again whacking it against something once muck was good and wet.

On scale of annoying those bed of nails filters ranked up there with Whirlpool's "Magic Mix" brush filters.

She was smart, but not quite as smart as the parrot. The parrot lived in a cage that stood on legs. The dog took it upon herself to stand up and put her front feet on the pan bottom of the cage and bark and growl at the parrot. The parrot simply climbed down and bit her toes. After that she would stand on her hind legs well away from the cage with her front legs tucked securely against her chest while the parrot calmly munched on its food.
