A purple 1958 set? Although I have never seen one, that doesn't mean they don't exist. I found that out with the charcoal set of 1957. Frigidaire was very innovative, so anything is possible. They were nice looking machines that year and worked very well, it's a shame they tangled so badly for those who did not load them in the very special way they had to be loaded to prevent most of that. Which was most of the general public unfortunately.

The '58 was my Frigidaire 'dream set' for years. Guess I liked the look of the console--especially the rectangular cycle dial. Plus the people two doors down from us had one. They hated it for the tangling issue you mentioned and I tried to get my parents to trade our '60 Kenmores for the Olsons' set. No dice. My extreme case of Frigidaire envy began at that moment, LOL.

Bruce, the "purple" is from Robert photoshopping the image.  That color never existed, except in his heart.  And Eugene, I agree, it's my favorite Unimatic pair.  The ultimate in flexibility.

This was another set that I once had and sold off to someone. The set I sold like these was pale yellow.

Quite a trick of the light--I would guess this set is really white, turquoise or even pink, but given how color-savvy we once were, it wouldn't surprise me to be a "dream offering", otherwise, I would lamp it to be even charcoal gray...

1958 Frigidaires.

That is my #1 dream set. Somehow, I found the dryer in white within driving distance from my home. It runs, but I haven't used it beyond a few seconds of testing because I want to take it apart, clean everything, inspect all the parts, and lubricate bearings before putting it into occasional service. I don't want to run a machine for which parts support does not exist without first getting an understanding of its condition and nipping any problems in the bud.

The washers are more elusive. I try and keep track, and I believe there are 5 TOL 1958 Frigidaire dryers, and 3 WCI-58 washers in the club. I think there are 2 white dryers, 1 turquoise, 1 charcoal, and 2 pink ones, but I could be mistaken. Regarding the surviving washers, I believe there are 1 each in white, charcoal, and turquoise.

Not that I really really want a WCI-58 or anything...

This is way off OP comment but, why is there no color for appliances anymore. I recently replaced my much loved KM Quiet Wash II(got it for $40.00 at Habitat) with a new FD in the mini-mansion It came with the front wrapped in a blue cling film. I left it on for months. When I finally took it off Hubby was like "Did paint the DW? I really liked the blue".  And so did I. I'm tried of SS, had that in the Manse for 17yrs.  Trying hard to like the white. Think I'm going to have cabinets painted white on the lower and a light  green for the uppers. We'll see!
