I do remember seeing this set at our local Sears appliance section of that store. There was also a couple that moved in across the street from us when I was in 4th grade who bought the washer like this one. I think her machine was a 1966 model. I do remember the unusual agitator it had, with no visible bottom piece and 6 agitator fins at the bottom. I know it was the fanciest machine I had ever seen. Her husband had replaced the washer from their 1963 set, but she still had the dryer.

Once again, Kenmore's flagship offers a wonderful array of cycles, options and features. If it spun at 1140, it would almost be an ideal washer.

Back in the day, I thought our 1960 Model 80 was more progressive as there was no old-school cycle dial to operate; but it was probably nice to be able to see the progression of the cycle. It lacked the fun of a percussive, rhythmic rapid advance timer, but I'm assuming it had the variable agitator which would more than make up for that, LOL.

Jane Wyatt was looking good, as well.

Avocado Green

Well, that answers something I was wondering about just the other day. Was talking with mom about the washer and dryer that they would have bought presumably when they bought the house in 1968.

She was reasonably certain that they would have been Kenmore, and that they were Avocado Green, since everything in the kitchen was as well. I had never seen Avocado Green laundry equipment, but I guess I should not be surprised that it was made. Pretty cool to get see what they might have looked like.

Growing up in the '70's and '80's I distinctly remember the washer and dryer being white, likely Kenmore. Those got replaced in the '80's with the non-matching Whirlpool set that I have and use to this day. They're both Almond colored, but as I recall the dryer is a couple of years newer.

Interesting that an old episode of "Father knows best" with Jane Wyatt had what appeared to be an old Launderall machine.

I remember a Father Knows Best episode with the youngest daughter, Kitten, taking all the mail and putting it a slant front Westinghouse and turning it on. And then she got caught.
