The Tide contest offers a 'washer full of $10 bills', total $10,000, and is dated 1955. A quick trip through the inflation calculator shows that prize value today just over $89,000!

Almost exactly the same time, a TV game show raised eyebrows offering the staggering prize of $64,000 and was almost impossible to win unless the producers primed the contestant with the answers (which they did).

Your apology account = 999.75 credits.

Conversely the same prize today would be worth just short of $1200. A month's groceries or modest mortgage payment.

Thanks to the Fed for its constitutional mandate shepherding the value of currency. (MEGA-eyeroll).

These days your "in the washer prize" is a small packet of liquid Tide or Tide pods...  And NO "Satanic" P&G logo, either...

Did I mention your washer is a Hotpoint one-knob Builder's Special from Lowe's? Enjoy your Prize!!

The Federal Reserve Board isn't mentioned in the Constitution, btw.

Anyway, one of the washer prizes you can select is a Barton. I take it from last year's thread about the Barton washer service manuals that nobody knows of a Barton washer or dryer still in existence? This might be one of the holy grails.
