I am not sure of the year of this POD, but it seems to have been at the end of the 40's, judging the machines shown. I think it a nice idea, but pretty unrealistic unless it is a brand new home that has just been built. In that case, it is a nice idea. From what I understand most homes back then had a place for the washer and dryer either in the basement, possibly the kitchen or the garage. I know the homes built here up to the 50's had most of them in the garage with a sunk in drain, which made it difficult to position an automatic washer and level it properly. Most homes were geared toward wringer washers at that time. But GE did have a nice idea even then.
 
This looks like it's circa 1947/48.
It's more than likely GE's idea for a postwar-era "dream" laundry, as depicted by an artist rendering.
Granted, this layout was probably unlikely, despite the subsequent housing boom; but not inconceivable.
