Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I'll bet the fabric softener dispenser stayed clogged a lot. Also, how was the bleach dispensing controlled? I wonder how many colored loads accidentally got bleached because someone selected the wrong cycle or forgot to turn the bleach dispenser off.

The powder dispenser bins flipped over to dispense the product like powder detergent or dry bleach or water conditioner. The liquid dispenser compartments flush with water to dispense the product like liquid detergent or fabric softener. The compartments were not storage type, but had to be loaded before each load so incorrect dosing based on cycle was not a possibility.

As I recall, most of those Norge Dispensomat washers I saw were a clogged-up, gummed-up mess. Sometimes you had to use a screwdriver to pry open the cover. Like so many other machines, they were taboo as far as the resale floor was concerned.

All dispensers take maintenance to stay clean. How many softener dispensers on the top of the Maytag lint filter have you seen with semi-solid green slime in them, or dried detergent if they were not used for softener?

No Kidding...

I didn't think dispensers were maintenance-free and needed no cleaning. The bleach and fabric softener dispensers in my Maytag need to be cleaned, as does the machine itself. These Norges were in a class by themselves. Most of them were filthy and most of that filth was from half-disolved powders. The Dispensomats were prone to leaks and problems. Fun as those automatic dispensers looked, the machines didn't share the dependable service reputation of their Time Line cousins. I guess like the Hindenberg you had to be there.
