I don't know if I have posted this here before, but dryer lint is great to put in the bottom of flower pots before adding soil. It keeps soil and water from falling through the holes in the bottom. Just peel it off the screen and fit it into the bottom of the pot. It does not take up too much room.[this post was last edited: 8/27/2023-18:15]
 
Interesting, but does it eventually allow water to escape?  Some plants need good drainage, but I can see dryer lint being used for plants that prefer to keep their feet wet.  Papyrus comes to mind as a good candidate.  I keep mine nearly waterlogged in a large pot without a hole in the bottom.  I can see how this practice would be good for white ginger as well if a potted plant is your only option.
