Presenting the Summer 2014 Ogden Laundry Line-up

Or "Musical Bloody Appliances 2014"

 

To be fair, I have to mention that none other than Hubby helped me with this 'presto-chango-rearrango' that I have been itching to do for some time.  I wanted to have a chance to get some of my 'newer' acquisitions out of the storage lock-up and into the laundry room.  

 

So, here's what things looked like on Saturday in Ogden:

But by this afternoon, the new 'team' was in place and ready for action!

First up - the pair that started it all here in Ogden back in 2009.  The Inglis Sterlings, 'Roger' and 'Mona' are back in service and back together again!

I'll not go into details, but 'Roger' the H560 washer had me tearing my hair out for quite some time.  The washer has been fully restored now and I am happy to report, washing nicely!  One of these days, though, I will get the suds-saver valve back in service on this one...

And the dryer, 'Mona' had been patiently waiting for a new motor since 2010....  I also tricked 'er out a little - that porthole door came from a Whirlpool dryer (I got this from John, combo52).   It too is now working fine and is ready for whatever the washer can handle.

Although this lovely 57 Hotpoint came my way last summer, I had to do some plumbing work on this one.  Now, however, 'Ozzie' is fit for duty again.  I did notice a wee leak when I ran the maiden load through this afternoon but it's just a bad hose.  Even I can handle a repair like that... LOL

There we go - first wash of the season!!  I'll post some videos I took of this in action later this week, hopefully.

And you no doubt recognize "Harriet" the dryer from the Hartford, CT area that I snagged in March.   I know it's not quite a perfect match to the washer (the dryer is a 58 model) but they look pretty darn close and make a handsome pair!

And of course, the 1963 Canadian Frigidaire Deluxe washer is part of the line-up. It always will be, too - this is one of those washers I never would give up.  Well, unless a 58 Ultra-Clean in turquoise pops up... LOL

And here's something that I have not said much about, even though I've had it since last October:  the 1962 Canadian Frigidaire Deluxe dryer!!   Again, not quite a perfect match for the Frigi washer, but pretty darn close...

It's in wonderful shape, works like a charm and just needed a wee bit of detailing to make 'er shine again!  This machine was found by Phil (philr) in Ottawa and he graciously offered it to me!

And like little Jack Horner, the 63 GE Filter Flo has taken the corner spot.  I was reluctant to put this machine into storage for fear of drying out the transmission boot (oh, all right, I like it too much to put it away...).   I just need to do a little hose lenghtening to get it to the nearest drain spout and I'll be all set.  

 

Of course the 53 Canadian Westy pair retain their slots and will not be going anywhere until I croak... LOL

So the 'castaways' will be heading to the top-secret off-site storage location (just off Dufferin Road in Stanstead) soon... but probably not for long...  Stay tuned.

Please take that sharp, scratchy drain hose OFF that GE panel or I'll come confiscate it for safekeeping! LOL

I love your GE, Its beautiful I would love to find a nice filter flo! My mom had one with the silver panel, enzyme soak, mini basket, and turquoise filter pan and straight 8 agitator. My nana had a blue panel one with filter flow, cant remember if it had a mini basket, and i cant remember if it was a straight 8 or a black spiral activator . I remember it had two toggle switches, and no water level selector. My aunt lillian and uncle boots and gold panel early seventies ge matching set. I know for a fact the washer was a suds save with a toggle switch for extra rinse. I believe it was an Americana model.

I remember watching uncle boots show me the suds save when i was a kid but i cant remember exactly how it went. I was 5 or six. lol

Always liked those '63 F with the GE-esk dials! I think it was the only year they did that, back to chrome knobs in up-market machines and after '63 all chrome till the end of the line in '79.

 

Its always good to have a  secret supply storage warehouse !!

Very nice - you've been a busy boy!  As always, my totally favorite model is the 1963 GE, how could anyone not be blown away by that styling?  And where is it's mate?  You don't mention a name; maybe "Ronnie" (dryer could be either "Jane" or "Nancy"), since RR was spokesperson for GE before he got into politics.

 

Do we see yet another GE washer in the background in the last shot.....
