That is DEFINITELY a HOT looking washer! Very retro! I just noticed...ALL BUTTONS! NO control knob. AWESOME! Have you tried it out yet for it's cleaning ability?

One owner...
The little old lady who owned her took good care of her. No kids, just her and the hubby. The washer is a good indicator of how the whole house looked. She has a Frigidaire Flair range with two ovens I'd like as well. Two raise up glass oven doors and a pull out burner drawer below. The oven interiors are mirrer clean and smooth... Sighhh... Anyway, nothing wrong with this girl. Bearings are silent, seals are clean and pliable... I would kill for the matching dryer to this Maytag... She got a new set due to the Westinghouse slant front dryer seizing up and her son tried to fix and lost alot of the unit pieces. One thing I have from the dryer as a prize is the end of cycle chime unit. Plays "How Dry I Am" on a motorized 6 bar chime instead of just going 'buzz'. I understand this was a rare option then and the musical units are hard to find in functional shape today.

Runs with that rythmic pulsing humm of the old style trans. Lint removal is great due to that 'in the agitator' lint filter that Maytag should have kept. I have a MAH4000AWW washer as my daily driver so no wear and tear on the 900.

It has a rapid-advance timer, like a KitchenAid Superba dishwasher. Two cycles on it, Regular & Wash-n-Wear. The pushbuttons set temperature and speed combinations, and water level. All cycles are full-fill except Partial White Load and Partial Colored Load. An extra motor cranks the timer to the proper starting position in the proper cycle. After it gets going, pressing the same button cranks the timer back around to the starting point, or to the start of a different cycle if a different button is pressed.

The fill hoses were removed and the power cord tucked in to prevent any accidents.

That is by far one of the nicest pre 1966 Maytag automatics that I've ever seen. And to think that it is a rapid advance machine too! This is quite an amazing find - so glad to hear the 'Tag is in such loving hands.
This machine is one of the most beautiful automatics that Newton ever produced.

WOW What a great find for Reno....I came here in 1979 and back then hardly found appliances of that era. People use them forever here. I think there is a center dial pink maching from that era at the Sargents Maytag south of town. Enjoy your find...

When you think of it, this was the perfect washing machine for technically disinterested people like my dear old Mom. One button took care of every decision and even though, as the old smarmy Consumer Report reminded us, this machine wasn't as versatile as the next models down, most people, like my Mom, used one cycle 99% of the time. I think that's why she liked the KitchenAid KDC-17 we had; all she had to do was load the thing and push the "Full Cycle" button. Didn't even have to touch the dial.
They should make these again.
They should make real Maytags again.

That is just gorgeous! What a neat find in such nice shape. I found the matching pink dryer and a 700 washer in pink last year and converted my white 160 all-button washer into a pink cabinet. That isn't the end of the pushbutton story, but we'll save that for another day!

WONDERFUL! That is a gorgeous Maytag! It is good to hear a story where it was well cared for through the years; these machines are getting hard to find.
Will you have it hooked-up and use on an ocassional basis? I sure do like my 1964 A700S; I've had it almost a year now and use it every weekend. It is a great machine and I love the thermostatically controlled warm water for washing and rinsing.
