...That whoever titled the video hadn't called that a "hot water heater." The device in question is called a water heater. A hot water heater would be a device for heating water that is already hot, which seems a rather unnecessary and expensive endeavour.

thanks Sandy. That washer is the Norge that's a POD that's got the "filter-flo" filter pan on top of the agitator instead of ours, which looked like it, that had the semi-circular filter at the back of the tub like on the Monkey Norge Touchn'n'Wash Rick has.

I'm guessing that would be similar to when people refer to an ATM as an 'ATM machine.' ATM stands for 'Automatic Teller Machine.' So, an 'ATM machine' would be an 'Automatic Teller Machine machine!'

Chuck:

That goes along with another one: "VIN number." VIN stands for "Vehicle Identification Number," so people are actually saying "Vehicle Identification Number number."

It's this kind of thing that makes colloquial English so difficult for non-native speakers. Anyone wanting to emigrate to America and learn our version of the language just has to accept that certain things make no sense - hey, you're coming to a country where people drive on a parkway, and park in a driveway.
