PRIMING &PAINTING & FLAIRS..... OH MY!!!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

i had put the inner tub

on the back porch during warmer weather and scrubbed it with a soft spongee type scouring pad and hand picked a lot of the dirt out of the drain holes. i took a garden hose and high pressure spray to it after that. it was perfect looking before i started priming and painting it and i did tape over the drain holes with painters tape before starting to paint.

here it is after it's first coat of royal blue rustoleum enamel. i have never used POR-15 but have heard of it on the site here. whare would i find it, in a store or on the web please?

to answer your question (whirlcool) about paint i used rustoleum rusty metal primer first, then rustoleum enamel as the finishing coats. it has worked well for me before on my dishwashers.

think i will check into the POR-15 you guys mention here. always open for and looking for better ways to do things here! thanks.

Pete...
The tubs look very good. The Flair you have looks just like the one that my parents had, which was originally my grandmothers Flair. It did not have the ss on the inside though. It had a storage area on the bottom. Dad got rid of it in 2004, because it was taking up space in the basement. Dad still has the double squirrel-cage blower though. It is just sitting on the shelf, taking up valuable space. I will ask him if we get rid of it. If he says Yes, it's yours Pete. Judging by the pictures, I take it that you either fixed your camera or got another. Did you get a chance to look at my emails? Good job!! Please keep those updates comming.

melvin, have not checked

my yahoo e mail for several days now. bad habit of mine, just like i only check the mailbox once a month! will e mail you tonite after work.

want to post the pics of the 3 washers i got from you very soon too, been working on the portable dd whirlpool. love that machine! been cleaning it, put on a new plug, 2 new rollers, gonna paint the outer cabinet today! it's going green!

did get a cheap camera, here's a couple pics of the wonderful little portable whirlpool dd washer, all cleaned up and ready for it's new paintjob! it now has a permanent spot in my bathroom (no place else to put it!) kinda nice there, just roll it to the sink and do some laundry!

took top rim off

and scrubbed it good, it's as clean as new! the outer plastic tub is extremely clean on the inside, i was surprised that a machine that old would have a outer tub area so gook and gunk free! only grime was near the top where the water level hits. i guess the spinning tub keeps the rest of it clean!

thanks again, i just love this little portable!

Wow Pete, looks like you've been busy. The washers are coming along nicely, and the Flair looks like it'll be really nice after some cleaning. Sent you another e-mail, hope you got it. Let me know if it didn't go thru, and I'll resend.

'' Gas'' Flair

AYTOWASHERFREAK...The range you saw was either a Monarch Modernique..or a Tappan Fabulous 400, the thing sticking up in the center of the burner was a thermostat sensor that contacted the bottom of your cooking utensil, took its temperature , and adjusted the flame up and down to maintain the setting on the dial, my 59 Caloric has one and it is pretty accurate.
