so recently my washer's pump had stopped draining. I opened the pump, cleaned, lubricated and reassembled it (the most annoying part is putting the pump clamps back in place)

she returned to normal, but she had no defects to have stopped draining.

Maybe something was stuck and it broke free when you disassembled the pump.  If it's working properly now, something you did apparently fixed the problem.

I had one similar to that once.....

for no apparent reason it stopped pumping...all seemed fine inside...and still wouldn't pump out....

turned out not to be the pump, but was the by-pass valve for the self clean filter got stuck open...the water would just recirculate back into the machine....took a while to investigate that one, especially after replacing with a new pump and it still wouldn't pump out...

but yeah, if you got it to work, dont question it, keep running it and enjoy!

Whirlpool Bi-Directional Water pump

These were fun pumps a little complicated and not the most durable pump ever used in an AW [ I hope all the Maytag folks noticed that I criticized a WP design ] LOL.

Taking apart these pumps and lubricating them can really help, the way the belt just skims across the drive pulley on BD washers allows the pump to stop turning if it gets slightly loose or if the drive belt gets just a little loose.

Loose Belt

We also carried an old drive shaft for use when working on these Whirlpools. Perfect length (about 2-3 feet) and diameter for using as a lever for moving the motor; then tightening the 9/16" nut on the motor, giving good tension to the belt.
