Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Come to think of it, this is the exact same LK model the 1965 LK Combo was replaced with when the wawsher part died. (the dryer part died first on both of their LK Combos).

P.S. I can get you a new timer dial if you want one. Let me know if you do.

Re: Dispensers:

Hi! If you check on Repair-Clinic with the Model Number of the Washer, you might be able to see if they have the Bleach/Fabric Softener Dispenser Assembly and the Plastic Divider Insert that goes on the inside part of the Top, near the Basket opening.

Good Luck, it does seem like Repair-Clinic has a fair amount of older Parts available. If they don't them available, maybe a 2nd Hand Shop near you, that still deals with older Washers and Dryers might have the Dispenser Assembly and Plastic Divider.

how Vari-Flex works...

you lift up the outter ring(see thread 183384) and turn left to extend or right to retract the bottom agitator fins. Thus giving you from a aggressive to very gentle washing action.
its a excellent option to have. you can have almost a infinity of choices of washing action with Vari-Flex.

In Houston, I knew a secretary who had a LK with vari-flex. She basically used the 3 normal cycles and changed the setting on the vari-flex for all her wash. She loved it that way. And she kenw what she was doing, her mom was a high school home ec teacher.

off-balance switch

I noticed the instructions on the lid said "off-balance" buzzer-this is probably one of the early off-balance switches that uses a wire trip arm-one that is bad to get bent and give troubles. I've only seen the ones with the red plastic trip arms. I would love to see a picture posted on this particular washer's off-balance switch's trip arm, if it has one, I've never seen a belted Kenmore washer with a wire trip arm.

I picked this up 2 summers ago...needs a bit of work. I installed a new outer tub that I had (even though it has no outlet for the bleach/softener disp), and I broke the bottom half of the Vari-flex agitator getting it out. I am using a white roto-swirl for now. Sorry the pic is so big!

Well, I was going to test the LK this afternoon, but had to run an errand instead. Maybe next weekend. I'll also see about lifting the lid and exposing the off-balance trip mechanism.

I was able to ajuste the Variflex, but it was a bit stiff. Perhaps it needs some warm water and suds to help lubricate it.
