Question about Maytag bearing/seal kit repair

I recently ordered a new transmission for my norgetag washer and it came with a new bearing and seal kit. My question is, are you supposed to lubricate the bearings with something before they are installed? here is a picture. It just seems to me like there should be grease in between them if you know what i mean....

I think some people may, but I never did. The bearing was never the enemy, the bearing only went bad if the seal leaked. I very rarely seen seal leaks unless something/object found it way down to destroy it. 90% if I was replacing a bearing/seal kit was because the transmission went bad.
