I agree with you hoovermatic... although I must admit I did like the Woodland Rain and Ocean Clear variants of Bold, but now there's only one "detergenty" fragrance Bold have left, with Ocean Clear - and god knows how long that'll last as P&G have seemed to make it the "less popular" version by not stocking it in as many sizes (always a clue that a fragrance is going to be discontinued soon). If you want a nice fragranced detergent, I think Surf is the way to go though - still cleans and rinses as well as Persil (although I think Persil has the edge), but their new Cool Fresh scent really smells nice, and after I have used it a couple of times the Sunshine scent has grown on me - especially after I realised it is almost exactly how I remember Radion smelling like!
I have actually found that the newest No Need To Pretreat biological Persil washes better than Ariel - which was my former favourite. I still have a huge 180 box of the old scent Ariel before it was relaunched (the Ariel that smells kinda like grass), and used 100ml on some jeans that were really muddy, on a 50*C cottons wash. It had removed the grass stains - but didn't work on the mud at all, whereas only 80ml Persil would have got it clean first time. Ran the load again this time through 80ml of Persil, and got great results. I must admit I feel that Persil seems to whiten better than Ariel too - although, that may just be my imagination.
(It is amazing how I see differently now. Ask me 6 months ago and my favourite would definitely have been Ariel over Persil - although 6 months ago was a couple of months after Persil relaunched and the first "splat" version of Persil smelt like mildew!!! Thank God they've changed the scent on the newer biological Persil).
I still wish they'd bring back the Persil Non Bio smell of the early 90s - they still have the liquid in a similar fragrance (and the tabs too to some extent), but it's either me or the Non Bio powder seems to be more or less fragrance free now!!
Talking of Persil, has anybody tried Persil with Comfort? Has a great retro-detergent smell!!
Nick - Lenor->Lean orn->Lean on->Lean on me? Just a thought
