Hey Guys,

Thought I would post three quickly taken photos of my wife's mid 70s Kitchen Aid Mixer. They're stills but at the time they were taken a few moments ago it was in process of mixing up a cheese cake filling - Amaretto Cheese Cake.... yum, yum. My wife and her first husband bought it new around 1974 and later after the parting the KM stayed with her and we have it and use it regularly. Absolutely love the machine and have used it from regular cake mixing to cheese cake to churning homemade butter during the Christmas holidays!

I'll try to get more photos at a later time and maybe a video of the machine in action. The wife was not real pleased of my taking photos with things "messed up" but I told her it would be a hit regardless since so many of us have posted the machines in action which is part of the fun of this site and of owning vintage appliances! More later......

Additional on the KM Mixer......

Yes, the machine was a little messy - wife was turning out 2 large cheese cakes and a couple of small ones as well so things were a bit messed up.

Is that a solid state machine?  As in model K45-SS?  When I found my pre-solid state K45 recently I did some research and found that the solid state models debuted in 1979 or 1980.  I thought that the logo as seen on Randy's machine didn't appear on non-solid state machines, but information is hard to come by on line.

Does anyone have precise information on when the KA logo changed?  Here's a picture of my K45 for comparison.  The knob on the attachment hub is a different shape and it has the older style logo.  Did KA start using the newer logo before they launched the solid state models?

By the way, I've since found a later style mixing bowl with the rolled rim like the one on Randy's machine, so the issue of the sharper bowl edge scratching the paint on the pedestal has been resolved.  The bowl pictured is now a spare.

More on the KM Mixer

I was asking my wife about the mixer last evening and she did say that it was bought new sometime between 1972 and 1974 - she didn't remember the exact date/year but for sure early to mid 70s. I'll get some more photos up with the mixer cleaned up abit - it was doing heavy duty for 3 cheese cakes that she was making last evening. I noticed the rust around the attachment cap so need to clean that up as well but it's all original except the electric cord that had to be replaced after the old one went bad.
