Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Last photo - the night before I left I asked Greg if I could pull out a Marantz and the Technics turntable so I could give a spin to the Coldplay LP that I picked up in the warehouse district.

Sounded great on the mini Advents!

So few photos but oh, so much fun. Thanks guys for a wonderful week! Do I really have to go back to work tomorrow?

Hey Kevin,

The Bendix Power Surge was a briefly produced washer made by Avco just prior to the sale to Philco/Ford in 1956. In 1959 Philco released the same transmission and wash principle as the Automagic washers (and Dexter Miss America). If you check out the vids you'll see a video of Robert's 1959 Automagic.

The cool thing about the P/S is the lack of the column, which causes a vortex to funnel in the center of the tub. Talk about roll over drama!

I'll get a video out hopefully tonight.

Ben, thank you for posting all those fun pictures. Also a very big thank you to Greg for hosting such a fun gathering. Greg, Skyler, and Newton always are fantastic host. I was there for a week and it seemed like just a couple days. It was so great to see everyone again!!!! Terry

Great pics, Ben. You weren't supposed to let on that the Power Surge had a slight "undoing" ;-) The KDS-14 is indebted to Ben for his bravery and skill at timer repair - I hope to get that switched into the kitchen this coming weekend. What a beautiful machine that is and a big thanks to all who helped revive it!

I'm picking up the Park Av tomorrow night so I'll try to get some pics up this week to document our adventure in car shopping.

It was a great week with great friends and we're looking forward to the next one. Thanks everyone for a great time and wonderful New Years!!

Looks like great fun, guys! Thanks for taking the time to post all the great photos, Ben.

A couple of observations:

1) I can't believe how tiny the lid/opening is on the Blackstone in Post #322530. It's especially noticeable with Greg's hand in front of it.

2) The Frigidaire Corner To Die For: A pair of '57's and '58's right next to each other. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Great 'Sheer Look', Ben!

lol!! Looks like everyone had a wonderful time, as usual!

Greg, I do have to say, the Kitchenaid that was just restored, and the turquoise portable are both very beautiful machines! As you know, dishwashers are not my thing, but if I found either of those, I might become addicted. <:
