Philco....
Was another company that did some strange things, they built a good product, but that broil under glass feature as well as the jiffy griddle was silly...then in the 60s they had a bright idea..they hinged the cooktop so you could raise it to clean underneath, like most new ranges, this was good, but they removed the drip pans and scewed the elements in place , if you boiled something over it ran down under the cooktop into a bowl shaped depression under the unit...strange!..The Jiffy Griddle is something else that made no sense, If you have never seen it, it basically is a griddle that sets on the broiler element, when you want to use it, you open the oven door about a foot, and the whole mess pulls out, sticking out in front of the range, I have never figured out how on earth you could regulate it, as it is heated by the broiler element which was open coil. And then in the 50s they made a beautiful range,,,with 4 thermostatic surface units, now I know some like them, but 1 is aggravating enough..but 4 of them!!! oh no!!!
