Does anyone have any interest in these machines? I think they are absolutely fascinating! The fitness center I work at over the summers just got this Raytheon made version (50lb) as a loaner until their new 80lb Alliance version arrives. I have to say that I was absolutely shocked at how effective the spray rinse is on these machines and MAN do they fill up with water fast! The fill lasts about 35 seconds for the initial wash fill and has no need to top off after that. The spray nozzle directly onto the load is VERY effective! I'm quite impressed with this machine! At 300Gs for the spin, it's very quiet. This machine I'm told is from the early to mid 90s and the bearings still sound pretty good considering! Here's a vid of the spray rinse, I pan over to the drain trough to see the sudsy water coming out and just as I did, the other set of fill solenoids banged open and the machine began filling. Took about 23 seconds to fill for this rinse! And look how high the water level is! Almost halfway up the window! I was very impressed with how solid this machine feels!!!

Here's a vid of the end of the 720RPM 300G final spin. You can hear the bearings rumbling a bit but it's still very quiet compared to the old 75lb Unimac soft-mount machines we used to have. I can't wait to see how the new 80lb machine compares! The electronic brake near the end of the video is pretty awesome!!!

The larger Unimacs have dual fill/spray valves, one pair (H/C) for the tub, one for the window. Sometimes both operate, sometimes only one or the other. IINM, only the tub path passes through the agent injectors, the window path is water only.

How cool would that be to have in your laundry room....:-)

Someday, I plan on it! Probably only the 35lb machine. (25lb if they start making it that small.) Just have to figure out 3 phase power and the cement requirements. Looks like the 35lb version would cost a little under $8,000. I bet it'd last through 2 or 3 generations though!

Unimac/Uniwash Washer-Extractors

These are excellently built high performace Washer-extractors. The spin spray through the door works great and saves a ton of time and water. These are built on a full angle iron frame with all SS inner and outer tubs. The oversized motors and bearings last many years of extreme service. As well as dual fill valves they also have dual dump valves to drain the machine faster and keep up with the water and suds load during the spray rinse. Reminder to anyone wanting one for home use. They are gravity drain usually 3 phase and are hardmount machines. All being said I can think of few washers modern or vintage that are made this well or wash this well.

Cost of new Uniwash VS Cadillac

Qualin, Actually they list for much less than 1/2 of what GM wants for a Cadillac in USD depending on size and options of the washer-extractor or car. For real comparison Alliance prices these machines closer to how GM would price entry level Chevrolets.

Thanks for sharing

I remember when Milnor introduced the direct injection filling through the door decades ago. It was a big diameter hose and gave a really dramatic fill, like this machine. They were great because they almost instantly soaked the center of the load.
