I know that I've seen info listed as to when the first Automatic Washer come out on the Market for Consumer's purchase and usage, being the {1930's} Bendix but I'm not really sure if I've ever known when the very first Clothes Dryer come out available. What approx Year-Date and what was the very first Brand available? My guess of approx year would be early {1940's} but I'm not too sure if I could guess the very first Brand...Would it have been a Bendix too???

Thank you for any and all info. I wish everyone wonderful Holiday Celebration's and a very

"Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" to one and all...

Peace and best to everyone during the Holiday's and always, Steve

Old Dryers

I think there were Dryers available as early as the late 1890's-these being large cabinets with a heat source of some type. The user would hang clothes on racks within the machine.

Hamilton was the first with a tumble type dryer that we would recognize today. I believe the inventor was one Ross Moore, from a farm in N. Dakota. He had approached several washer makers of the day about his machine, but they did not have an interest, so he took it to the people at Hamilton Manufactoring, even though they were not involved with appliances at the time. They introduced the dryer in 1938

Re: General Info about Dryer's:

I've tried checking almost everyone's Profile Photo Gallery's to see who might have the 1938 {approx year} Hotpoint Dryer. If there is someone in the Club Site that does have one, please show or at least give the Link, to view it. I'm curious to know what they looked like back then, besides to know the few feature's available and how they worked out catching Lint.

Does anyone have the 1940-1941 Bendix? I did see in someone's Collection a Hamilton {?} Dryer, that looked quite old, like maybe an early 1940's.

Thank you for all the Replies so far, I look forward in any further info.

Peace and best to everyone, Steve
