I've been checking out the newer show on the Travel Network, hosted by John Ratzenberger "Made In America" and the segment about the Factory where the Kitchen Aid Mixer's are Manufactured is quite interesting. They mentioned about there being 49-Colors available and actually John Ratzenberger asked about if they were going to create another Color, to make it an even 50-Colors and he had suggested a Plaid or Checker Print. The most interesting part of how they Manufacture the Mixer's is their using Powder Coating for the initial Painting of the outer Parts and then they are places "via" a Conveyor into Oven's and heated up to "Bake" the finish, then I forget what they do for the Shinny Finish, but as I mentioned, all of the process is quite facinating. I saw a beautiful Purple Color and I thought about a lot of us possibly being interested in that Color, besides the older Traditional Colors of the 50's and 60's of Yellow, Turquoise and Pink and the newer Color's available now too.

"BTW" I wrote a request, asking if John Razenberger might be able to show either or both the Frigidaire and Maytag Plant's, where the Washer's and Dryer's are Manufactured, but I've not had any reply back as of yet. I would like very much to be able to check them out, if even "via" TV knowledge, since I most likely won't be able to do any more Traveling of much distance financially and I've always wanted to get to go to the Maytag Plant to get to see how the Washer's and Dryer's are built, at least the ones that are still "Made In America" and now personally, I'm not going to buy any Appliances that aren't "Made In America" because I think it is wrong for us to be sending our Money out to other Countries for Appliance Purchases.

Of powder coating and American-made products

Steve:

I am familiar with powder coating. We have a place here that does it. As a matter of fact, I had an old, rusted twin set of laundry tubs powder coated in dark green as well as some vintage patio furniture.

I just love the idea of a "plaid" finish. The first pattern that comes to mind is the one on Austin's Hoover Jr. I just love it; reminds me (don't know why) of butterscotch.

I agree with you about "Made in America" appliances. It is, however, getting harder to find something that is totally made in America. Sometimes foreign-made parts are brought back for assembly here, etc. so the "made in America" badge isn't 100% accurate. Wish there was something I could do as well.
