Well, I guess my Richmond trip was just a bad luck episode...I gave the Westinghouse the spa treatment, it cleaned up quite well, no rust, very solid..the large unit was missing, so I had a spare..installed it..nothing....Everything else worked, so I took out the switch, which was burned up, I guess when the unit went bad it fried the switch...upon further inspection...the 3 other 6 inch unit switches had been changed.......and whoever the incompetent repairman was replaced all of them with switches for 8 inch units!!!!For the their information..the switches are different, so where I WOULD FIND A COMPLETE SET OF CORRECT SWITCHES IS ANYBODYS GUESS..oh well, to the building it goes, I guess I will have to keep looking for a WH for a while longer...I really would like a more TOL model anyway...

Surface element switches are the Achilles heel of Westinghouse ranges, and I'm really sorry you had such bad luck first crack out of the box.

I saw that one...but it says it has been re painted....that pretty much ruins it as far as im concerned...LOL

Westinghouse uses load-balancing switches. It is possible to buy generic switches, but you have to make sure that they have the extra terminal for the light. The Westinghouse switches are generally more trouble prone than the surface units which is why it is almost better to buy the generic Robertshaw or whatever switches. Check with John about the switches, Hans, before you consider the range a loss.

Given up,I am going tomorrow to see if a generic replacement can be found...Don't need switches with the light terminal, this stove is a BOL and does not have a pilot for the surface units..

Replacement Infinite Switches

All replacement IS will have the extra terminal for an indicator light, but you don't have to use them, or you could wire up a light over the range that comes on when you are cooking, LOL.

 

The bigger trick is finding switches without the push-to-turn feature and be sure to get the correct ISs that are either right to high or left to high depending on which your stove has.
