Studies have shown that professional testers cannot discern the difference between Real and artificial vanilla extract in foods baked or boiled for long periods. The nuance of taste and finish are pronounced when used in items not cooked, such as icing.

Yes, I know vanillin is held in suspension by the same solvent used for lice poison, and so is there bad junk in every product on the grocery store and much of the medicine you take.

You gotta pick and choose your battles and decide where to spend the big bucks.

Sabine Women

There is a craze in the US to source and use designer table salt. It comes from tidal pools, mountain peaks, the backs of Sudanese laborers and is gathered by virginal, Sabine women, while pregnant, from the seashore, at the first moon of the last month of the astroligical meter.

Again, tests have shown, once it boiled, cooked or dissolved there is NO descernable difference in taste or function.

Use good old store branded table salt to cook with.

Designer salts make a real difference in mouth feel and flavor brightness due to the mineral make up and the texture of each individual grain.

Why didn't I think, the world would pay $1.00 a bottle for water and create an environmental crisis in cost and recycling, when there was perfect fine homemade water in the tap all along. I am always too practical and still in awe that we can turn a tap and recieve water. I am so lucky!

Froth

Dearest Brett,
Clean your oversize, out of style glasses, that occlude your eyes, That not froth!
Kelly

PS Brett, why did you wear dark glass on the Match Game?

I hear ya Kelly. Nothing amazes me more than people paying for bottled waters with exotic sounding names. When Coke brought out their bottled water..which is it Dasani or is that Pepsi, doesn't matter anyways, It was sourced from right here in Calgary Alberta, at the Coke plant off 32nd Ave, directly across the street from our office condo which we're now selling. Calgary city tap water, bottled, baled, put in a container on the train to Vancouver BC and from there trucked down to Seattle Portland. I worked for the RR and we picked up numerous of those container loads daily.

PS Brett, why did you wear dark glass on the Match Game?

Because the glare from Betty White's *Golden Debutante Blonde 12m* hurts my eyes!

Betty

Dear Brett,
Did Betty's effervescent perkiness make your butt want to suck lemons?

And boy howdy wasn't Gene Rayburn a snooze. If he had entertained me half as much as he did himself there would have been two of us happy.

Kelly

Did Betty's effervescent perkiness make your butt want t

no, not at all! she did a fabulous job on the show (when Fannie Flagg wasnt available)! and she DID have a three-way once with Bert Convy and Richard Dawson. but Charles can tell you more about that... Brett Somers

Insensitive

Dear Brett,
Wasn't it about that time Fanny was going through some messy little thing with her cute little husband, Dick? Or was it his Dick? Mercy the brain is mush.

I stand Deposted

I shall endeavor to "wash" all thoughts and words before posting.
It is after all a site dedicated to the mecanics of washing.

Gotta say, though it was a fun week until the boom got lowered.

Long sigh, red face.

Anyhooo.

Here on Long Island the water we use is from the ground.
Plenty of it, aobut a 150 year supply if it were to never rain again. Golf courses pump all kinds of nasty pesticides, herbicides etc. into it.

That and the wiring here is plastic sheathed, and wires are above-ground.

*DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* Our cancer rate is through the roof.

A mere 6 miles away the water in New York City comes from the mountains upstate(north). Their pollution comes to us! They themselves don't drink it.

Wiring there is metal-sheathed (therby protecting all from induced and stray electo-magnetic fields) and all wiring is undergournd BY LAW. [a severe snow-storm knocked out service in the late 1800s, early 1900s].

Cancer rate: Not so bad. (Well ANY is bad ... but allow me).

We buy bottled water. *SIGH* (My distiller is dead. Will wait to get another one). Not to mention tap water here tastes like @$$. Distilling is somewhat expensive, but results in perfectly pure water.

Atually that is a great price.
Whipping out my Sears card and off we go.......

Cleansed

In the new incarnation of communication, I will not comment of what silicone in water might do.

I admire the motivation to avoid contaminated wire water.

Any thing happen ot us when our clothes soak in wire water or we have or heads in wire water contaminated washing machines for hobbies?

Could Automatic Washers have played a part in contributing to the environmental and health crisis we are facing?

I am in later stages of cancer. Where in the world, in our society would I begin to isolate things that cause or feed cancer.

I would need to live where there was no electricity, fossil fuel or processed foods or the myriad changes those inventions wrought upon the earth.

I would need a planet that had never been exposed to any of those changes.

It is impossible to unravel the puzzle.

I am bombarded with:
Take this.
What ever you do, don't take this!!
Chemo will kill you.
I know someone who did the same thing and now they are dead! Eat pickled gnats wings, imported from Peruvian Rain Forests and gathered before the sun comes up ad nauseam.

The only thing worse is the,
What do think caused this?
Yet worse, what did you to do to allow this to happen?

If I had a part, it was self loathing and its collateral effect.

It is too late. We can make small incremental improvements but the tidal wave of environmental stresses is so huge, it is almost pathetic to watch people scurry with such intensity focusing on sparks, while the forest is a blazing inferno.

I respect, we all do what we can. I do also.

It is in OUR believing we see demonstrations.

Kelly

Thank you SO MUCH for recalaiming the thread.

I have mentioned this as well to those near me that are or have battled cancer.

*ANGER* IMHJO becomes illness.
Forgive, forget, overlook. ESPECIALLY YOURSELF. We can only be disappointed in life if we have expectations. Something not go your way? CHANGE your expectations.

The beauty of the past is that it is done and OVER with, Let it go. Live in the present and look towards the future. The other great thing about the past is that you can make it what you want it to be; fond recollection, or bitter memory.

I am surrounded by Asperger's. once I knew WHY those around me were *different* I was able to re-assess their realtionship to me. My view of their impact on me and *THEIR TERRIBLE ACTIONS* instantly metamorphosized. My view of the past changed based on better information and re-view.

LOVE YOURSELF,FORGIVE YOURSELF, BE YOURSELF.
NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO JUDGE ANOTHER HUMAN BEING...we are all *LIMITED* in thought process. (Some, apparently, more limited than others).

Affirmation: (I am not joking) stand in front of the mirror and say *I love me just the way I am right now- faults included*

You cant truly love someone else until you love yourself.
Peace-out!

Togs, you are inherintly Good, in spite of yourself!

I spent years trying to find fulfillment, elsewhere.

A few brushes with theraspeak said, "You must first love yourself" I heard that as conceit. I had brothers who loved themselves so much they were insufferable.

Finally, in recovery, three years ago at the age of 52, I began the shift into first accepting and then liking who I was.

It was not instant and God knows when I am challenged, I still work not play the tapes and scripts of the past.

No one else can give acceptance and self love to me and conversely, no one else can take it away.

At 54, after all the hard work of sobriety, therapy, coming out, divorcing, leaving behind financial security, and opening myself to the scrutuny of family and friends, I was diagnosed with cancer, that has proven to be untreatable.

I was so rage filled, at the injustice of it all, I could barely exist, let alone give words to the anger and begin to work through it.

I had made the decision to do the hard work, for a chance to know, in my life time, what it felt like to be authentically loved. And now, who would want a relationship with a middle aged, broke, neurotic and soon to be necrotic man.

Life is filled with amazing demonstrations. For me, in every instance, I had to move myself out of the road, to allow them to happen.

I did get the chance to know love. As blabbledy mouthed as I am, even I stuggle to find words to adequately express the wonder of being loved and how exponentially in permeates every fiber of my life and enhances every experience.

The capitol T truth, was love was in me and about me, the whole time. It was not "given" to me and it can't be "taken" from me. I am finally free and independant in the power of who "I" am.

Looking at it now, I can say, Cancer has been a blessing. It forced me to accept living in the moment.

I can't change what was and reliving it over and over in my mind does not ever lessen the pain and humiliation I felt.

I can't worry about what will be either.

The tragedy, for me, would be to spend one thought in the past or the present and miss something happening right now, that is sweet and good and feeds my soul.

I am able to be part of the community of support at Gilda's Club, the National Chronic Pain Foundation, Cancer Care Alliance, Camaraderie, Gay Fathers, and CSL where I use my knowledge of the sytems as a Path Finder for men, who feel isolated, alone and afraid.

So now, you can better understand why playing with appliances and the people who use them is such a joy and respite for me.

Togs, as I read the archives, I see your nasty self showing up as the Master of Lexicon, Double Entendre and Biting Wit.

And sneaking though it all is the heart of a very insightful and generous man.

I love you,

Kelly

Kelly, I am truly moved and speechless by your sentiments. Will pursue off-line privately.

[Cybil, oh Cybil..My Miss Manners (split) personality is squeaking through..... one second.....here she is... "BTW a comma after a person's name in the salutation of a letter indicates a close friend. A semi-colon is for acquaintances." Ok Toggle squeaking back in. DAMN who let HER in? GET OUT! ]

Said: I did get the chance to know love. As blabbledy mouthed as I am, even I stuggle to find words to adequately express the wonder of being loved and how exponentially in permeates every fiber of my life and enhances every experience.

Respone: Nothing matters but love. It is the glue that holds the universe together.

As much as I need you and have come to repsect and love you lightning fast, It seems like you have learned some heavy-duty life and spiritual lessons and are free to transition. (earthly) missions accomplished.

Know this. You have touched a great many lives here and will never be forgotten. As long as we are in the minds of the living (and other souls) we can never persih,. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only change its form. And as Mr. Spock says we are all pure energy. (Well maybe you are, I am not PURE anything!)

So as I sit here all mushy and teary-eyed (seriously), I thank you for the love and touching my life.

YOU TOO ARE LOVED. and it is VERY real!

Now get me outta here. I need to find something dirty to say or get involved in an innuendo to quote or something.
