Spin

The spin starts out slow with the water ejection system sort of on gentle, the it clicks in to high, the spin increases dramatically and the water sprays out with more force.

There is one brief spray rinse in the final spin.

What a great machine!

Big Load of Towels

Is there a learning curve as to how to load a Frigidaire?

There were a lot of towels and at times, it seemed to slow down the pulsations, but, it kept up and did an excellent job with water extraction.

BTW Model #WCD

Serial # 50EF 4368

Any idea of date of manufacture?

Gary and Steve, looks like you are doing a great job cleaning the machine up. One of my favorite features of this machine is the circle spray. Just a great idea. Greg has a similar machine and when I was there over Labor Day it was my favorite!! Congratulations on a great find.

Loading

Yes, there is absolutely a proper way to load a Frigidaire. It is loaded in quadrants. Imagine an X in the tub, load it that way stacking as you go. In my 1-18 I fit in 8 full size bath towels and top it off with around 20 washcloths, set it to maximum fill and maximum wash time. In about 10 to 15 seconds they're turning over nicely and come out smelling great!

Dan

I have so many Maytags, I needed to 'branch out'. My mom had a Frigidaire rapidry 1000 in 1967.
I have always wanted a Frigidaire, and this one is in great shape.

Thanks for the kind words.

It is so different than a Maytag. My mom had the choice of a Maytag or a Frigidaire, and picked the Frigidaire. Perhaps it was because my Dad worked for General Motors at the time.
It was a wonderful machine.

This was similar to my Mom's machine. Four water temp combinations; Normal wash or Gentle wash; Full Load or Partial Load; and there was a Normal wash cycle and a Soak Cycle.

A very fun machine! Very few noted in my area. I had only ever seen one here and one in Delaware. Tucson, AZ changed all that a few years ago with a few fabulous wash-in weekends at three glorious homes including Ross' place! The Frigidaires there were just as fun!

Overall I thought this machine was in excellent condition and was relativley clean.

Working to get some videos posted and linked on YouTube, ASAP.

Max Fill?

Should the maximum water fill come up to just the last ring on the agitator?

There is a setting that can be turned on the pressure valve, and I am guessing it is for more or less water at each setting.

Although the tub looks much wider than a Maytag, can you fill it fuller than the Maytag(and still achieve an ok rollover)?

About how full should you fill the tub with dry clothing?

Gary, you "underfill" a 1-18 with water and put clothes into it that looks like it would be "overloaded" for the water level in order to achieve great rollover!!
